Rock-Solid Router March 15, 2007 35 out of 36 found this review helpful
I was using a Linksys wired router/switch for a few years. I was constantly losing VPN connection and having to re-connect. I put in VOIP (Vonage) phone and had to restart every 3 hours. I thought I had cable modem problems, network problems, config. problems on router. Finally, I ordered the D-Link EBR-2310 (because it was very inexpensive). I took it out of the box, plugged it in, connected my (4) network cables including a wireless connection. In 6 weeks I have not had a single connection problem. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! - highly recommended.
Wonderful! February 15, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This router installed without a hitch, using the enclosed CD. Now I don't have to pay an extra $2 a month to Comcast for a wireless router which would have been less secure than this wired router. To all of you considering the cable company's wireless router option, DON'T DO IT. I simply drilled a hole through the wall close to the baseboard using a long drill bit extension, and then snaked an ethernet cable through it, using a coat hanger wire, to the next room where my son has his computer. Then as soon as the internet cable installer left, I followed the instructions for the router, and then repeated the software installation on my son's machine, plugging his end of the ethernet cable into his machine, and the other end of his ethernet cable into the #2 blue port of the modem.
The only deficiency I can think of in the instructions was that there should have been some mention as to how to connect additional computers into the router. But it turns out it is basically the same as the initial installation, so I figured it out. I am a 60 year-old female. If I can do it, you can do it.
Do get this one. It is working without problems.
Great Product January 9, 2007 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this for my son's XBox360 live, because it is one of the recommened wired routers to use with Xbox Live. It was easy to set up and have not had any problems so far.
Easy to set up with Mac March 12, 2007 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I used this router to connect my iBook, xbox 360 and ps3 to the internet. The setup CD doesn't work with Macs but the online setup wizard was simple to use. I had it all setup in less than 10 minutes.
Wired Router Is Perfect With Vista February 8, 2008 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
The Linksys wired router on my home network had served well for about 5 years, only occasionally requiring a power down to reconnect when the DHCP lease time was up. But after buying two new computers running Vista, it consistently failed to renew the lease automatically, requiring a manual release and renew every one or two days. So I did a little research and found this D-Link router on a list of Vista compatible devices. I was a little skeptical, not really seeing why the PC OS should have an effect on the router's operation. But apparently it does. The good news - not a single problem in the one month since installing it.
The installation wizard was flawless. It figured out that there was already a router on the network (the old Linksys) and suggested that I follow the procedure for replacing it. It stepped through each power-down and cable disconnect and reconnect. The three computers on the network were all back on-line in less than ten minutes - and I was working slowly!
The router came bundled with optional software - Network Magic. Some people rave about it, but after reading the license agreement I found it too invasive for the small amount of additional information and/or convenience it provides over what is already offered by Vista and so have not used it.
