Great Nonstick Grill August 11, 2006 36 out of 36 found this review helpful
I got this to supplement my Calphalon Professional square grill. I use this one when preparing barbecue with high sugar marinades and sauces.
First of all, unlike a lot of nonstick pans, you can get this grill very hot. This produces authentic looking grill marks and that sought after smoky taste. However, even the stickiest, most burned on remnants come off with a soak and a wipe.
I also use this pan to grill more delicate, crumbly meats like hamburgers, crab cakes, and fillets of fish. These may still crumble, but at least it won't be the pans fault. For plain grilling of steaks and chops, I still prefer hot, bare metal to nonstick.
The best thing about this pan, though, is the price. 50 bucks is very reasonable for a professional piece of cookware. It's also important to note that Calphalon nonstick grills are top rated by Cook's Illustrated magazine.

love it, wanted one like the use on the cooking shows, i wanted the grill marks on meat, well this is a meaty pan, gives very nice grill marks on steak, fish, and hamburgers, and the grease lays in the bottom away from the meat, i really love this,
Great to cook with and easy to clean October 8, 2005 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
This gets 5 stars because it is perfectly shaped and not too heavy. It cooks even and leaves lines on the food. It also holds the food higher than the grease that might have dropped off your food. I just spray it with a light coating of Pam and then heat and cook. Clean up is easy because it is a heavy duty non-stick coating that is inside the pan and not just sprayed on. It wipes up with soap and hot water and a wash rag. You can fit 4 hamburger patties on it at one time if you want to do some inside grilling. Calphalon has done it again with great cookware.
Fantastic Pan! Didn't know what I was missing.... September 4, 2006 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
I was reluctant to buy a grill pan because I had purchased a cheaper one when "grill pans" first came out and it was lousy. This one is so much better. Nice design. Deep enough grooves to leave nice grill marks. Excellent heat conduction. Goes fantastically to the oven to finish thicker meats. Cleans up great. (I did use about a tsp. of vegetable oil which I wiped the surface with a paper towel--make no mistake, this isn't Teflon...it is stick resistant.)
So far I have used it twice. First for marinated chicken breasts. Grilled them up and then put on a nice coating of a chipotle BBQ sauce just before done and finished them in the oven to firm up the sauce. Outstanding. Of course that sweet hot sauce that dripped off burned to a crisp in the pan. I just waited for the pan to cool and put it in hot soapy water. With just a little soak and a sponge the pan was like brand new. The second time I did two large boneless ribeyes. In ten minutes they were "grilled" to perfection. Easy easy clean up and I didn't have to run between outdoor grill to inside make my final preps for dinner.
Next up will be shrimp kabobs or large sea scallops. Maybe some nice fish steaks or filets. Oh and grilled vegetables. Literally hundreds of uses. Outstanding.
I'm Just Like Rachael Ray February 3, 2006 18 out of 19 found this review helpful
Well, not really, but finally I can grill my meat just like she does. In the kitchen! I love this pan. The ridges are raised high enough to actually sear the meat or bread rather than saute it. This pan is also easy to clean and maintain. It's large enough to cook multiple hamburgers, but not quite there for normal-sized shish kabobs. If you want that, get the dual burner pans. And one word of warning, be sure to have your exhaust fan going. It's easy to smoke out your kitchen!
