Solid unit July 20, 2006 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I bought this for our basement and have used it for about a month now. The controls are very intuitive and easy to operate. I set it to keep my basement at 50% humidity and it usually fills up in about a day. Emptying the unit is pretty easy too. I dry clothes on a clothes rack in my basement and having this unit means the clothes dry in about a day, or two days max. The unit is very quiet, you hardly even hear it.
One warning if you use this in your basement, try and set it on a flat surface or use a small piece of wood or folded cardboard to keep it flat. Our basement slopes very gently so that water flows into our sump pump. I noticed that water was leaking out of the unit because apparently the slope of our basement was causing the float/auto shut off mechanism not to trigger. I put a small, nearly flat piece of wood under the unit to level it and the problem went away.
i'm happy with this one January 26, 2005 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
After going into stores and researching many different types of dehumidifiers for our active patio room, I came across this unit and decided to purchase it based upon that it was functional and importantly, "quiet". Most dehumidifiers are just too noisey to run while your actively in the room. I have been running this unit for a week now and can say that it has performed well. Love the lift up handle, easy control features, performance and quietness. Hate how heavy it is and having to empty the tray when it get's full. When I get around to it, I'm going to install the drainage tube. All in all, I'm very happy with this one.
Works well at 1/3rd the power of my old one September 23, 2005 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Replaced my 19-year old Sears dehumidifier. Was a workhorse, but on its last legs. This new one draws about 1/3rd the power for about 2/3rds the water handling capacity, and is a lot, lot quieter. I have circulation fans that are louder than this unit when it's on high. My wattmeter tells me it's drawing around 190W on the high setting when the compressor is running. It's been running continuously in my basement since mid July with no problems.
Hooking it up to a continuous drain hose was easy; the 15mm hose translates well to a standard 5/8" garden hose.
Liked it so much that I had to tell you... October 20, 2005 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
First review that I have ever submitted but I can't say enough good things about this dehumidifier. Super quiet and super efficient compared to the hot-running, noisy, electricity-gobbling units that I've had in the past. Mine is in my basement right next to the reason that I wanted a dehumidifier in the first place (my pool table). During this past humid summer season, my wife and I took turns dumping 12.5 pints of water DAILY. Seriously thinking about getting one for my son and his wife who just got a house (and my old pool table!). I recommend this unit without reservation.
Soleus Air CFM-25 25-Pint Dehumidifier with Humidistat February 24, 2006 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I've been using this dehumidifier for 2 months and it works great! I live near the ocean and so previously all my papers and books curled. Now, with the dehumidifier, all paper is dry and flat. The machine reliably pulls out a tankfull each day. It's quiet and easy to use.
